Division Poem by Edwina Reizer

Division

Some people have to work all day
just to make ends meet.
And some get to live a life we call
living on easy street.

Now these opposites will probably
never ever meet.
'Cause some live on big avenues,
the others on the street,

the street that has its houses
all lined up in a row,
hardly a space between them
where weeds in cracked cement grow.

They do not venture where
the flowers grow on avenues
to smell their glorious fragrances
or see their colorful views.

The separation between the two
is how the world proceeds,
some with all the comforts,
some with all the needs.

If this life we're living
had fairness in its heart
nowhere would you find on earth
such division tearing us apart.
