POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is an 'ambahan, ' a type of Visayan verse with an unrhymed seven-syllable couplet. Even if they are interchanged, the two lines in ambahan make sense. Visayan refers to the Visayas, one of the three main regions in the Philippines and the central region between Luzon and Mindanao. Cebu is a province of Central Visayas.
