Do Not Lay Me Down In A Grave Poem by Gert Strydom

Do Not Lay Me Down In A Grave

Do not lay me down in a grave,
send me to the furnace
and scatter my ashes
on the wild wind
that never rests.

Let me spread
like the morning sunlight
and be free,
to appear everywhere
like a rainbow.

Do not lock me
to the cold earth,
for when I die
I am gone from this world
and from this place.

I am part of every word I wrote
and the person I am,
are reflected in all the things
that I did.
