Do You Find Me A Bore? Poem by Judith Evans

Do You Find Me A Bore?

Tell me something, do you find me a bore?
Do you look at me and wonder what you saw?
I listen sometimes and bore myself
What was it that made you take me down off the shelf?

What shifts I am working, having friends 'round for tea
A meeting at school, where the kids need to be
We exchange information, your eyes start to glaze
But these are the things that fill my days.

I look forward to the days we have time to share
But what will I talk of with the children not there?
When my day has been filled with ironing and cleaning
Where would I find tales of interest or meaning?

I think you are happy, but I can't be sure
Do you sit there and think, 'there has to be more'?
Do you look at me in my manky night clothes
And sigh when you think of what you chose?

I don't think I expect much, you may disagree
I don't say how I'm feeling, that's never been me
But you are the same, you rarely say
One word answers for, 'How was your day? '

I'm not trying to apportion blame
How can I when we're both the same?
But would it still be me, if you could choose once more?
Tell me this, do you find me a bore?

That strikes a chord. It's a bit like my poem 'Can I have your attention please? '. I showed it to my better half, who read it, and then uttered the immortal words, 'Hm, I don't understand it'. Men! !
