Dog Pound Grill Poem by Marilyn Lott

Dog Pound Grill

Rating: 3.5

I went for a little drive
Why, it was only yesterday
Just out kinda looking for places
To visit... didn’t plan to stay

Drove past old buildings
Long since been closed down
There was so much history there
It’s such a unique kind of town

I stopped and had a meal
At the Whistle Stop Café
Quaint little place, I think
That was right along my way

Then later I saw a grill
You would not believe the name
Gave me some reason to pause
And I think you’d do the same

It was called the ‘Dog House Grill’
Now, I’ve got a pretty broad mind
But my appetite just wasn’t there
Not a place I’d want to dine

The sun went down and I went home
It was just a perfect day for me
Tomorrow I’ll travel once again
To see what I can see!
