Don't Look At The River Poem by Genc Kastrati

Don't Look At The River

Rating: 4.0

Don't look at the river with your dismal eye
'Cause it's simple and earthy
It's the water, clear like the sky of Kosova
Withdrawing like your mealy body when caressed
Don't forget to touch the bed with your palm
It could slip before your eyes silently
Knowing not the longing of desire
Don't look from the corner of the eye and be thirsty
'Cause you could be taken by the evil eye
While he is calm like the night when you give him the dream
And refreshing like your fiery kiss
If you don't approach to him, don't walk by his side
If like a victim of love you don't surrender fully
It won't wash your braids like the mountain ranges
Braids could be long like your neck that separates the body
Don't let him wake at dusk's with empty soul
As an orphan in the street in its sole road
Just for a look of eye, darling
Not even the river would flow happily along.
