I shuttered
as you began to mutter
to yourself
knowing exactly what would happen next.

Another episode to dampen
our family with more kerosene
as you smile discreetly and light a match.

The moments of last night go unnoticed
as everybody pretends the next day is bright
and full of bliss.

Every night we are burned alive
naturally deprived
yet
we ignore the fact of yesterday
and lie..
pretending that everything is okay.
