Don'T Torture Me Poem by Edwina Reizer

Don'T Torture Me

Don’t torture me in any way.
You had me once
in a long ago day.
You brought me flowers
to wreathe on my head.
You gave me verses
that always said
how much you loved me,
how much you cared.
And for this torture now
I am unprepared.

Don’t torture me I ask of you.
I had you once
in a short rendezvous.
I brought you my heart
to keep forever.
I gave you my love
that you should treasure.
What should have happened,
what should have been
is not this torture
I find I’m in.
