Sometimes when I'm dreaming
In days so long
and hammock-sweet,
I dream of my favorite
memories
The ones I wish to repeat.
They were all so special
The good ones
Not the ones
which caused my falls,
Those ones which blaze in my
firmament
Favorite mementos I wish to recall.
But now I recognize I can't live
in the "long ago"-
No longer should I soar towards the past,
For if I do
-like a window pane I can't see through-
All my good futures will all be my last.
So I lasso my pasts and throw them away-
And like a noose
I unknowingly hang myself with a rope.
For now I am left
with all my old memories-
But without a "future" I don't have any more hope.
