Doormat's Guide To Love Poem by Holly Jamestone

Doormat's Guide To Love

You broke my heart but that's okay
I'll love you till the end
I'll follow you adoringly
Oh, please just be my friend!

You've kept me at arm's length, at bay
Forever in my place
And all the while I've treasured you
Now much to my disgrace

But don't dismay, I love you
Or my heart just tells me so
I'll yearn for you and follow you
Though I should let you go

And all the while you'll walk on me
Knowing as you do
You should have loved or set me free
The day our time was through

But in the meantime I will cling
To what I know as love
Until my mind at last may know
Through guidance from above

Real love is never hateful
It would not turn me away
Or keep my heart held hostage
By poison things you say

Love is calm and comforting
With soothing, open arms
And love exudes a cheerfulness
Of wonderment and charms

Real love is unmistakable
Not wolves disguised as sheep
It's kind, respectful, caring
And a gift a heart should keep
