Doubted Poem by Eldon M Thomas

I never knew temptation like this before
It is a test of my faith straight down to the core

Tempting me to take the bait of evil's lore
Causing me to doubt and not trust in the Lord

Even though I know that he keeps his word
The temptation increases even more and more

And when it comes I don't know what life has in store
But I know that God has blessings through every open door

But sometimes I just feel so unsure
Am I not seeing God because my heart is impure?

Does God speak to me or is it all in my mind?
I thought all of my wicked ways were left behind!

But every time I look around I seem to be in rewind
But yet God proves ever more why he is faithful and kind

Yet I'm tempted to do wrong like one that is still blind
The righteous ways I am still trying to find

Help me Lord Jesus to walk down the righteous path
Don't turn away from me, please spare me from your wrath

Renew the joy that I once had
Make me happy again; I'm tired of being sad
