Down Chaos Road Poem by Chris Mallia

Down Chaos Road

Dear friend, are you confused?
Welcome to Chaos Road, entrance free
With two 'no entry' signs at each end
We get lost, wanting to flee

As dogs lead their owners
And cars drive down the pavement
Stopping at green, going at red
Pedestrians walk without accident

Here, the sun is green, the sky yellow
The pink grocer sells black carrots
The trees have fragile glass leaves
And the only birds seen are dumb parrots

I see a baby pushing mum in a pram
Garbage collectors are throwing dirt
Some schoolgirls have moustaches
And a policeman is wearing a miniskirt

So dear friend, still confused?
Does this make sense? Found any gold?
Best to appreciate your normal life
As there is nothing worse than Chaos Road
