Down The Memory Lane Poem by Learnmore Edwin Zvada

Down The Memory Lane

Rating: 4.8

Her life is one big story of love
She just is a mirror on which I reflect on in all of my days
I gather, I still miss her more than I admit
When I cry; it's the pain, but I find not that tear
But I miss her deeply, even terribly still
I know I loved her dearly
My mental diary she fills
Of the untold stories, of the told
Even the withheld
That void: not shallow, only wider....an oceanic vastness
I retire on her bosom
She is my morning, my evening, the span of my days
Still, I draw that womb in which she mothered me
And I assume that stance
Imagine she still is there
Behind my closed eyes
Around roadway bends
Perhaps it's just one long nightmare
Such lovely a soul she was
Her voice erased sorrow from my countenance
When she held me close
Her warmth made me feel more alive
In that instant, I swear I could fly
Her tears, I never saw
For she hid them from me
Never in her day was her voice of weakness
Just a portrayal of her aptitude and kindness
I redrew her last night in my dreams
And this morning in my daydreams
My mother, my love she was
Still she is and will be
For all eternity
Her legend will live on
Lodged divine in this heart of mine
