Down To Sleep Poem by Randy McClave

Down To Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep,
I keep a Bible besides my bed
Because, a verse I have already read.
Besides my bed lays the good book
Ready for me to take another look,
And when I say my goodnight and prayer
I know that the Lord my God is already there.
I keep no weapons and not one firearm
So, I have no gun to kill or to do harm,
My faith is in the Lord as I stand or lie
My faith is in the Lord when I die.
I believe like the disciples of the Lord
I need no weapons, guns or rifles or sword,
If the Devil ever send sinners my way
Unto the Lord my God I will pray.
I never go to bed with worries or fright
Never or any night,
My protector is my Lord and my savior
He is the one that gave peace and faith to my behavior.
As I lay me down to rest
As I finished another day's quest,
Near my head or feet there is no rifle, sword or gun
As besides my bed, always stands the son.
