Downstairs, People Are Enjoying The Company Of Other People Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Downstairs, People Are Enjoying The Company Of Other People

Party with me, pipsqueak
I'll be in the basement
I'll make a big show of wanting to get together with others
For the purpose of categorizing others

He'll say "I'm sorry for the dimples
"I'm sorry for the masquerade"
"I had lousy role models. They taught me this! "

One day he'll run out of girls
And your mother will introduce her shiny new lover
They'll never slake their thirst for the companionship of others

Upstairs, there is a savior and an observer together as one
Watching, never participating
He'll feel a righteous adrenaline

He'll be strong enough to lift heavy objects in the case of emergencies
He'll be strong enough to occupy one side of the extreme
And strong enough to show any effort being made

She will not be so discerning so as to choose between the two floors
She'll hang out on the mezzanine and have impure thoughts

There she will think of cylindrical objects
And drape different male character types around her shoulders like the furs of dead game animals
