Dr. Simon Hercules Of Chennai Poem by S.D. TIWARI

Dr. Simon Hercules Of Chennai

It was a need of the time,
Dr. Hercules felt his duty, prime,
to extend his services for treatments
the Corona infected patients.

Though he was a neurosurgeon,
had no case in hand for operation;
but he din't stay at his apartment
started treating Corona patients.

For his dedicated work, reward in return,
he got the COVID-19 infection.

Twenty first April of twenty twenty,
the day played a game utmost dirty.
Corona virus took his life,
though he was just fifty five.

His family took him to burial site
to perform the last rites;
but stopped them the local mob
and attacked with sticks and rods.

Not shown even the basic humanity,
the people living in the vicinity.
For his last rites, Dr. Hercules,
the hero of 'Chennai' had to call police.

A vicious fear, everyone had,
Covid-19 virus may not spread.
Somehow buried him quietly, his friends
without any of family members present

Even after his death, Dr. had to face
his society's given painful distress.
