Dracula's Fangs Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Dracula's Fangs

Rating: 5.0

Dracula Fangs
The immortalist, Dmitry Itskov,
Is pouring his Midas funds
Into trials to upload human consciousness
Into androids or robots

Meanwhile, infusions of young blood
Are found to rejuvenate geriatric mice

Plasma from the umbilical cord of new-borns
Might stem the tide of ageing

Dracula, in the Wallachian language, means devil
Now, Dracula's fangs might find a voracious market
As minds descend to dementia
Young blood might be the suck-up source of cure

Ancient wrinklies lurking in darkened concerts
Flapping their bingo wings in rancid corners
Only betrayed by creaking hip replacements
May pounce to feed on the life juice of the young

Dracula's fangs enjoying a fey revival

A quite brilliant linkage between Dracula and the new Science. The last full stanza is superb an astonishing image. This is one of your best, Sheena, and goes straight into my favourites' list
