Draw Back The Blinds Poem by Mark Heathcote

Draw Back The Blinds

Forgetting we all originate from a garden divine
Each hand offers the other a foregone fatal handshake
A Judas's kiss is the closest they'll ever work together
Politicians lie through their teeth; it's all about power
So take a cold shower and come to your senses
If we leave them to lead us blind
What do you think will happen to mankind?
Open your eyes. Hear their lies.

Draw back the blinds while there is still time.
Look at all these flames.
Look at all the seas; see how they boil and rise
Look at all these deserts extending on a breeze
With no interruptions to their whispery, fiery tongues
It's no surprise then how these serpentine
Politicians have no belly for action
They have no spine.
