Dream Poem by Kayt Krepcho

Dream

your kisses on the cusp of my collarbones
magenta rings around your eyelashes
the dewey sponge that wets your lips
a sea of elbows and kneecaps and knotted hair
the smell of oranges on your fingertips
a ridge of black tar under your nails
the shiny black box at the foot of your bed
with its spinning records and the sound of
needles cutting through the moats of the vinyl
melodies from sepia toned eras
with the rounded edges of photographs
and the delicately colored pink for blushing cheekbones
ornate black mirror frame and i catch your reflection
the curling tendrils of your hair
a mischevious chunk nestled in the corner of your mouth
the scar under the sharp angles of your shoulderblades
a sea of computer cords and camera straps
outlets and electronics and stacks of music
like a mountain on the horizon of your bookshelf
people in the posters on your wall
with their curious eyes and their infamous smirks
musicians artists philosophers geniuses historians
your wall as a museum of human history
a hall of fame watching us as we conduct monotonous activity
the box of trinkets
old rusty things gooey childish things little bottles filled with candy
bracelets made by long lost lovers pictures of time forgotten
boxes within boxes within boxes packing peanuts and boy scout patches
a wooden crucifix a gypsy woman handed you behind a convenience store
a box of stories from your life and you share this with me
you speckle my thigh with kisses and curl my hair around your index finger
the eggshell blue glass of water on your nightstand
a paint swatch a lighter a bow tie
a soft hand on my side a smile
