Dream Lover Poem by Leslie Xavier

Dream Lover

The final bell, piercing;
over, the bioscope show;
shaken, the abrupt wake;
from the noon siesta.
Oh, the dream had life,
and love; drought remains.

Mom it's the rains,
cool, the window mess,
and the canal swell.
Bro, am back for more,
missed the short wait,
for that hot bite; dad!

Hey, it was swipe time,
dinner served, not for me.
Love, you here, but why?
The lips open for a smile;
fed mouthful and a kiss,
she's the girl I love.

Sleepless night follows,
come here's your space.
Hips to bear my seed,
now the warmest of hearth.
And a family chat; eyes shut,
ears open while the heart smiles.

Naked truth running out,
that flooded college field.
An American affair turns sour,
she, a beauty, a flirt too;
with guts to flare the guilt,
there's your love, not in Miami.

(A dream I had this afternoon while I dozed off watching TV. I saw my lover, my roots and images of my past in a misty collage)
