Dream Once To Want Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Dream Once To Want

That dream once to want,
Seems to have vanished from the scene.
Yet the chasing of it never ends.
As the price to pay the cost,
Continues to skyrocket.
While pockets rot.
Producing nightmarish debts.
Leaving dreamers left,
Behind closed doors heard to scream.
And that dream once to want,
Has become worthless to wish.
Since an equity thought to raise in value.
Has sunkened under water.
Even the fish have abandoned it.
Although the sharks remain.
Awaiting for blood to taste.
Knowing it comes to be donated.
Volunteered.
By those attempting to find a way,
To stay afloat.
With their noses barely above,
A promissory note.
Signed and prayed with hope,
That dream once to want...
Saves them from the sharks,
Swarming around them.
Laughing and doing,
Both back and breast strokes.
With patience kept.
And high expectations to accept.

"Hang in their folks.
Keep your faith.
One never knows,
Which way the wind ultimately blows! "
