Dreams Poem by Gregory Johnson

Dreams

DREAMS

As I sit here in meditational form
Hands intertwine behind my head
Day dreaming about this unique
Woman
Who invades my unconscious state
Eyelids abreast trying to imagine
Her astonishing beauty
But the picture isn't vivid enough

But on repeat
As it toys with my mental wit
Creating barriers
Around my dreamy thoughts
Not allowing me to riddle the puzzle
Or dream another dream
Keeping me stationary
Swimming ashore

As she stand there
Back against the waves
As I breaststroke
She turns slightly
Hair covers half her facial portrait
Noticing how angelic she is
And I don't want to awake
Tricking the cerebral to preserve
This momentary thought
Until I understand this dream
I am chasing

Every glimpse I get
It entangles me
Railing me closer and closer
Until she's near my grasp
Praying my dream catcher
Entraps her
As I gain more momentum
And my heartbeats enhance
I stumble and fell into a place
Pitch black

Losing all sight of my surroundings
But within that instance
A hand touched me
And a voice
Whispering in my ear
You don't have to search no more
As the dark gain light
The woman I chased
Throughout my
Meditational thoughts
Was the woman I married
And the woman of my DREAMS
