Due To Our Lust For Money Poem by Francis Duggan

Due To Our Lust For Money

Rating: 2.5

The beauty of Nature for all to enjoy
Yet a beauty some people are happy to destroy
Due to this need that is in us for financial gain
Our craving for material success beyond me to explain.

For to build a new factory in the industrial side of the town
Twenty five mature monterey pine trees were cut down
Their cone seeds a food source for yellow tail black cockatoos
Due to our greed for money the birds have to lose.

The World we live in with others we do share
But due to habitat destruction some species of birds and animals rare
The pathway to extinction for them we create
This is not an achievement for to celebrate.

Like her Seasons to life we come to and from go
Yet so little about Nature we can claim to know
Due to our lust for money born of our human greed
For protection from extinction many creatures in need.
