Dying By Myself Poem by Randy McClave

Dying By Myself

I once was told I was going to die alone
Then I looked at my contacts of my cellphone,
On my table laid my remote control
And in front of me sat my dogs food bowl.
I read my emails and my text messages everyday
And every night to God I always pray,
I also have my friends and my church family as well
And many books and magazines in my book carousel.
I keep all my luggage that I need is in my closet
Weekly into my checking account a check I deposit,
In my closet are the clothes that I enjoy to wear
I picked them all out with thought and care.
I sleep as late that I want to sleep
No bad thoughts or dreams do I ever have or keep,
I enjoy the foods that I prepare or buy to eat
I even enjoy saying hi to strangers that I meet.
Yes I live alone and all by myself
And yes I don't need no one else,
Never do I argue and never ever do I fight
And never do I have to prove if I'm wrong or right.
Never do I trip over or on someone else's things
Never on promises are their attached stings,
And never ever am I ever running late
And never ever do I have to wait.
Every morning I always go out for a walk
With neighbors and friends and strangers I always talk,
And I've never found an animal that was a foe
Even my back yard I share it with doe.
Yes I might be all alone when I die
But, because of that reason I will not be sad and I will not cry,
I would rather be all alone in the ending
Than be used and hurt by anyone from the beginning.
