E.T.Hall (1976) Poem by Cathy Shao

E.T.Hall (1976)

Are you related to Eliot, T.S.?
Are you one of the aliens?
Who are you, the person in my dream?
I can't see your face
I can't hear your voice
And I don't even remember you when I wake up
Then who are you?

Who are you, the person I go to the beach with
In the morning
In the moment I wake up from my dream

I'm not sure you are in my heart
But I know
You must hold a place in my brain
A naughty neuron
A sparkling one with beautiful blue reflections
A strong one with as many connections
As tender tentacles of a cute purple octopus

I know
From experience
Time for you is on a different scale
In then minutes of one morning
I've already travelled the world with you
In a flash of a second
I've seen you from young to old

Years have passed
But I still hold the first sight of you
