Each Day Poem by Shalom Freedman

Each Day

EACH DAY

A new world begins each day
And each day we ask
What its story will be
And how its mystery will be revealed
But each day bears other stories with it
And is often less than a chapter
In something longer and deeper
Each day is a dream that becomes a reality
And then becomes a lost dream again
We live in not knowing
And die in not knowing
Each day is a new hope a new journey a new test a new treasure a new loss a new defeat and a new setting out
We cannot know what each day will bring
It may be sorrow and its may be our own last word
Each day is a new day
How this one will go
I do not know yet
And perhaps the evening too
And the night and the next day and the years ahead
Will not tell me
And this day too will go to oblivion
As if it never were.
