~ Ear Candy ~ Poem by Goldie Lopez

~ Ear Candy ~

Damn…
you got me open just on the words you say.
How did you get me hooked by the thoughts you convey?
It's a chain reaction creeping… although out me,
like a baby I'm devouring this candy you feed.
I should've known this beginning,
with it's compromising start.
Words entice like honey,
sugar rush through my veins…
inspiring tune with familiar pain.

Deception blinds the heart, plaguing misery.
You knew the contestants… played the game well,
foolish I was, for my heart you'd sell.
You're the hunter, I the prey…
your eyes told the story… I should've walk away.
Now I ‘m the victimless face…
the star and quest.

Your words are like sticky candy, I yearn within my ear,
though you'll treat me like a bird, than morning disappear.
Engrossed with a burning desire, boy you got me sprung,
swiftly twisting me into a manipulative front.
Can't stop this addiction, this mental abuse I can't win,
you're a player in a contest, so eager you'll win.
Trickery of fears is the lessons leant by fools,
reliving the intimate thoughts of you.

I can no longer fight it, craving this drug I consume.
So give me more of your sweet candy baby,
within my ears I plea…
for this physical attraction isn't just an obsession…
It's a codependency!
