Early Warning Poem by Mark Money

Early Warning

no, that wasn't early warning
that was just a breath i felt
out of place.
should have been light
instead of showing a little teeth
should maybe have backed off
instead of jumping in with both feet.
but that's what i did -i can't deny
there ain't no time to argue
who knows what's right and what's wrong
when i see the whites of your eyes?
and your breath- -
i felt out of place.
early warning?i'm not so sure
there can ever be such a thing.
