Earth Poem by Nelson Torres

Earth

We all watch as her body's getting stripped
Pulled her from her roots and saw her ivory get ripped.
Such beauty was made, looked upon the eyes of destruction
Stolen from her temple for our silly mass production.
Pollute her waters and douse her hair with fire
Happiness can't be achieved in a life full of desire,
Green is being made, the rich is getting paid
Poor is getting poorer, while the earth is eating hate.
Watches as her children continue to destroy
Air filled with gas, more troops are being deployed.
And no one can deny the horror that we spread
Living a life full of lies but it's all perfection in our heads.
No one knows true beauty, it isn't something that can be made
Nature is being processed while the earth just plays charades.
We made room for more parades, for hatred and destruction
Why can't we make room for some nature based instructions.
All the things we gas aren't really that important
People wait for pass, while others wait for corporate.
No one relies on action and while children turn more torturous
Writing out transactions, I think the planet's about to forfeit.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I'm a real big sucker when it comes to nature and I loathe what we put the earth through. It's like we just take what we want from her and say 'fuck you bye'. We continue to claim that we own so much but it wasn't us that made this planet, this planet made us, this planet isn't alive because of us, we're alive because of this planet, and people need to start realizing that, shit man.
