Earthquake Poem by Samantha Rigby

Earthquake

Rip, crunch and crumble
Went the houses as the ground shook
Standing, hiding my body from harm
Not knowing whether I am going to die
Not knowing when it will stop
Then nothing
The ground stood still
I look around
God
You say you love me
Why have you done this?
Our town is lost
I don’t understand
“Mum, Mum where are you? ”
I yell at the top of my voice
There I am scared alone
Screaming for my Mum that I don’t know is alive
I bent down where my home once stood
I saw my school book
Lucy Price, Reading, Kindergarten
I never did go to my first class
