Earthworm Poem by Je'free Y .

Earthworm

An earthworm
With dust-filled lungs,
Inches its way on the ground.

I can almost trace the crookedness
Of the trail it has left behind;
But never hear the stampede
Of earth granules blown by a gentle breeze
Louder like it does.

A creepy crawler
May not be a Sparrow
Exploring the heavens
To perceive a forthcoming thunderstorm,
Nor a Barracuda
Kissing the corner of an abyss;

But it can burrow down
To visit Grandma's coffin
Buried since 1965,
Marvel itself by her skeleton,
Her decay.

Truly, there is more to journey
Than soaring or swimming,
Like slithering, excavating to taste
Morbid details of where
All human drama ends.

Such rare opportunity
Not even I get to witness-
Beloved's decomposition up close;
Moreover, participate in,
And feast on.
