Easy. Poem by Kim Dang

Easy.

It's familiar, flashes of images and we're weak again.
As if we want to be disarmed because the insecurity is almost toxic.
The fetal position in your mother's womb, locks this
cradling sensation you can't do without.

Like the soft tone over cellular phones, the competition is over
between your moral deliberation of looking over your shoulders
it negates facing the truth you've acknowledged,
convinced it's just college and you're beyond this.

And it's easy.
To leave your bags unpacked rather than cleaning out your closet.
To leave the mirrors fogged up.
You'd rather not do it.
You've change your mind and it's complicated.

And you'll writhe underneath your sheets for those extra minutes,
moments of productivity replaced by moments of silence
It's almost masochistic the way you revisit your pains
You're receiving no gains by pretending it's still Disney
You're no Kim Sam Soon in cult culture Korean movie.

But you've never been lonely.
It's like your essentials, it's part of your accessories.
You're convinced there's less happiness in searching,
The grass is neither lush nor green on the other side worth knowing.
