'Freshwater' is 'Eau douce'.

Culinary 'mousse'
is that, too, in French,
in which 'mousse' is also 'moss'.
(Mousse as moss came first, I reckon.)

J'ai toujours le pied marin
is 'I have always the foot of the sailor';
'I never get seasick.'

French 'Mousse', too,
is a ship's boy,
froth and foam,
the head on a beer
and lather.

Foam rubber
is caoutchouc mousse.
Rubbery mousse
is mousse caoutchouce.

'Landlubber'
is 'marin d'eau douce'.
