Ebba And Evelyn - Poem by Harlan Simantel

88 year old woman
in a wheelchair
ebba by name
made simple meals
for her 60 year old daughter
name of evelyn
who had rheumatoid arthritis
curled up in pain on her bed
i gave her a bedpan
fed her
talked a lot
became close friends

ebba told me once
her own life had flown by
so fast! 88 years, almost over

ordinary housewife legacy
love for her daughter
small, plain women
not famous
loving hearts
famous with God

    So this is though provoking.
Makes me think about how I feel about how fast my life is already going, at the young age of 16
