Echoes Of Empty Words Poem by Micron Jan

Echoes Of Empty Words

They'll cry for you when life is through,
A show of grief, a hollow hue.
Voices loud with sorrow's claim,
Yet absent when you bore the pain.

You helped them once, repaired their walls,
Answered their cries, gave them your all.
You are ill, your help no longer calls,
They turned away, let silence fall.

They lived just next door, close in space,
Yet never offered a single embrace.
No knock, no call, no "how are you? "
Just empty words when storms blew through.

They smiled when times were bright and fair,
But vanished like smoke when burdens were there.
A friend in name, a stranger in deed,
Leaves you alone in the hour of need.

So keep your heart, hold it tight,
For some will shine only in borrowed light.
Let silence speak what they never knew,
And let the truth remember you.
