Eclipse Poem by Jimmie Vaughn

Eclipse

Today the sun shines black, not bright,
The teeming masses in fear behold
So dreadfully a hellish sight!
No joy, no peace, just horrid cold.
Ten thousand eyes all close together,
Ten thousand prayers for mercy flow,
This blight, it seems to last forever,
Then, suddenly, light begins to show.
They watch the shadow drift o'er the sun
And laugh and cheer when it has faded,
They wonder how such curse was done,
They wonder how God's wrath was sated.
From ignorance they will never be free
For magic and devils are all they will see...
