Elements - Poem by Ana Maeve O'Donnell
To touch a person’s soul
Is like a sculptor and his clay.
He molds his work to what it is today
And when he finishes, it is always beautiful.
To teach a woman’s mind
Is like a mother and her child.
She speaks to her flower of things that make it grow
And when the child speaks after her mother,
The words are always wise.
To inspire a man’s heart
Is like a singer and her song.
She gives the melody a new story with her voice
And when the song is over, the voice remains in your head forever.
To love someone is to never let them go.
Even when they leave you know, your love will go on and on.
To love is to lay a handprint on the soul, mind, and heart.
To love the person who touched, taught, and inspired you
Is to also love the warmth of energy that encloses your heart,
The unforgettable thought of wisdom that never leaves your mind,
And the knife that carves gently around your soul
To reveal who you truly are.
I truly hope that you and I never forget
So that years from now, I will know that love is never-ending.
