Emotions Poem by James Walter Orr

Emotions

As twilight pulls night's curtain down,
One million stars sleep in your eyes,
And in those darkened depths they drown,
Reflecting back into the skies.

The palpitations in your breast,
Soon loan their cadence to my own.
I leave the world, for all the rest
Of earthly thoughts have my mind flown.

Oh, how the honey of your lips,
Intoxicates my heart's domain.
I must repudiate my sips,
For passion, now, has come to reign.

Where once I touched, I grip and clasp;
Where once I sipped, my mouth devours;
Where once I breathed, I now must gasp;
Where minutes served, now serve the hours.

Let overflowing passion play
The part of that I wish to say,
And form the role I must display;
Whatever price I have to pay,
To keep my demons all at bay,
And somehow all my needs allay.
