Entangled Humanity Poem by Cody Napier

Entangled Humanity

Political Left or Political Right
To this conundrum there's no end in sight

We bicker over how we should behave
While the world burns beneath our ancestors' graves

Preoccupied with ideology and being correct
The last thing on our minds is if what we're doing is best

War, poverty, and slavery still flourish around the world
Debt and sea levels rise, and the wealth gap divide is gaping wide

There's a well-oiled machine churning us along that we don't see
It's the root of this madness and at its core full of misery

As long as we keep being the gears that move it forward
We will never see an end to these atrocities and horrors

They will only amplify and grow until it all disintegrates
There's no telling if our species will survive or dissipate

This doesn't have to be our end
We can redirect our path and begin again
