Esan's Daughter -By Okoemu Barnbas

Oh most beautiful daughter of gracious mother Esan,
Groomed in honour of womanhood
Brightest star of the galaxy,
Dream of all her opposite
You who dashing in the brightest
Humble and respectful
Whose hand in kitchen is in awesomeness
Cleaningness of the hold,
Body tang in tradition of loyalty and in humility, your name written
Eagle that soar higher than all birds,
Wiser than serpent, harmless than the dove,
You who made mother proud
Your decency, a remarkable example
Never for once, your precious body; exposed.
Walk to and fro in gallant path
Eyes that sees, never look away,
Prayer of even the catholic priest
Lovely and caring.
You whose pride, is virginity,
Too ashamed to be met defiled
But protect your body for the right one and time,
Keeping all on suspense
Never found at dark spots
Or seen jumping the fence or sneaking through the door,
Whose dream is to be mother, greater than

Oh beautiful daughter of gracious mother Esan,
Could your breaking point be:
Oh when soft of life ceased and hardness took the lead,
Seeing the outside and to be like them
And then, too ashamed to be label primitive!
Finding yourself broken and shedding. Blood that none care,
Trodding to and fro under the unfriendly sun and rain and winter, with less reward
That, to fly like bird, the mind sold
And your world turned, in another face be

Oh beautiful daughter of gracious mother Esan,
Our great mother; in tears is, wailing for you, the good old daughter is trashy road is,
To now cook, salt is in excess,
To now pound, as wet as river sider, pounded yam is,
Once agile daughter, now lazy to all chores,
You who all men fight over, now to be used, abused and refused
Imitation has coursed you a lot,
Your ones protected and valued body,
Now like the anus of a dog, in viewing of all,
Who now wants you?
In you, I once had pride!
Oh that is my sister,
But now in shame all are.
When again, shall you be your old self?
