Goodluck Jonathan -by Okoemu

The man we trusted failed us,
He came like a humble fool,
...

She carries the sack
Guided it jealously
Walking the busy
All eyes on her,
...

To be one indivisible entity,
To be one and then another's,
I will feel your pains
And you will feel mine,
...

(For Nigerians)
Even when tears stream down like rain drizling,
Even when hell is earth
Even when hands and legs are in chains,
...

In loneliness sits,
Looking to afar,
With mind burning
Like wide fire
...

The warrior I once knew
Who fought with sweat and blood
Not for himself,
But in defence of his people
...

Different faces
The same mind.
Upon the mountain all have been to fetch the sweet milk for the lame
None, not even one has ever gone there and thinks of the lame!
...

Just one day,
Every breathing hearts
Will breath their final
Just one day
...

Oh most beautiful daughter of gracious mother Esan,
Groomed in honour of womanhood
Brightest star of the galaxy,
Dream of all her opposite
...

Where most live without fulfilling dreams,
Cheats and traitors,
Few good and most bad
Brought together aimlessly
...

What are you to me?
I am blind, I can't see.
Be my sight.
What are you to me?
...

13.

Clean-up, instead of make-up
Early morning, she rose from sleep
And as she is, stepped out;
So natural, a beauty to behold
...

Fear in the fearless,
The bogeyman that frighten the giant
Advertiser of holocaust,
Raper of the guiltless virgin,
...

Standing on queue
All day long,
Like a detected wizard,
A guest of the sun.
...

Deep down in Nigeria,
I know you are somewhere
I close my eyes,
You are beside me,
...

Your doings or ways,
I may mislike!
But I love you.
So long you are a product of God,
...

A School By Okoemu Barnabas

I know a school
Where students are more than numbers
They don't like to read,
Always bribing to pass.

I know a school,
Where students are more than the classes and seats in them,
All they do, is pack in like load

I know a school,
Where they lack facilities,
And the government is dead,
The school authority is dead.

I know a school,
Where students pays higher
And gets less than little

I know a school,
Where there is a vast area of land
Yet, no classroom constructed.

I know a school,
Where lecturers fails students because they did not buy their textbooks

I know a school,
Where students are voiceless
And the students head in the hands of the school head.

I know a school,
Where the officials are cultist
Yet, they preach against it, before the students.

I know a school,
Where snakes becomes students room mate in the hostel

I know a school,
Where library lack books and research materials

I know a school,
Where students will come to class and lecturer will not come and will never give reason or reasons.

I know a school,
Where library is cut off from school

I know a school,
Where students cannot balance time
Where hour for lecture is for fellowship
Where venue for lectures becomes fellowship's.

I know a school,
Where all you have to do is buy and buy.
Where all you do is pay and pay.

I know a school,
Who admits more than she can care for

I know a school,
Where the welfare of students is no man's business.

That school,
Somewhere in the country.
