Eternal Inner Light (A Buddhist Poem) Poem by Adilson Pinto

Eternal Inner Light (A Buddhist Poem)

This is an eternal challenge - to keep us sure
That, when the day comes with its problems
We will find inside us a region full of peace,
A mind state only experienced by the sages!
Yes, this is the eternal challenge, to drink
From this abundant resource, from this fountain
And going smiling at life, at its ferocious teeth
As somebody who plays with a tiger as he was a cat!
To be like the Buddha was: the enlightened one!
To walk with deep serenity, to face everything
With humility, courage, self-determination and peace...
This is an eternal challenge - to keep us sure
That we won't die thirsty: the water will come!
That we won't die devoured: the inner light will save us!
