Evanescence Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Evanescence

This is not an act of martyrdom
Nor a demonstration of grace
This is merely to express a truth
That you deserve to face.

Forgiveness is a funny thing
It seemed so hard to do
But once the thoughts trickled in
The red fog disappeared
Leaving only you.

I struggled to be relentless
Desperately attached to a goodbye
But what's the use in that?
'Tis not the ground I belong on
'Tis in the sky.

'Twas not the red;
'Twas the fog that blurred
The air is red
And it is crystal clear.
