Evening Comes - Poem by James McLain

When evening comes
and shuts our eyes
where hot days those are
where love is permitted
and the cool nights are sad
and have awakened, i stand
and putting it out, your love
when is it simply permitted?
However it is,
we are betrayed permanently,
love is permitted by only love.
