Evening Song Poem by Richard D Remler

Evening Song

Rating: 5.0

*********

I will sneak upon the end of day
When all the speckled robins play,
And I'll bring a cooling breeze your way
I shall linger, but I will not stay.

I will call the crickets from their Lair.
They have a kaleidoscope of song to share,
Of which you're wise and well aware.
To fill this warm and weathered aire.

I will sprinkle stardust when you find
A dream is tapping on your mind.
And you will sail a wild, raging sea -
That will always lead you back to me.

A sea of fearless wonder, aye,
To mask the shading of the day,
Where you'll raid a pirates' bounty, say
And key-haul their wretched crew away.

And when you waken, you will find
A thought a'brewin' on your mind.
Images you may recall
You touched, you breathed, you smelled, you saw.

I will sneak upon my gentle friend
When shades and shadows softly blend,
And fade a wonderment your way.
Oh, I might linger some,
But I will not stay.
