I can hear the song Persephone
Sings into the night.
Her melancholy lyrics
That dance the starry
Light.
Her shores are calm,
A waking sigh
That echoes softly
In the sky,
As stardust settles
On her sea,
With tales of
Sweet Persephone.
Reflection stones
And puzzle trees
Dot the crooked,
Winding way,
Along the clefts
And 'round the shore
Where the tandum shoebill
Tend to play.
Her ancient battlements
Still stand,
Remnants of a
Broken memory,
When men of war
Laid claim her land,
And that sweet ambrosia
Of her sea.
Her silvered wine
And lofty peaks,
Where the bitterweed
And beebread grew,
Where carved in stone,
The angels guard
A Persephone both old
And new.
The Autumn breeze
Still visits here,
With Winter close behind.
And Spring
Is always happy
When she peeks about
To find
That breath of
Every teardrop
Drifting through
The morning dew,
Bringing shades
Of Summertime,
And skies
Of wild blue.
I can hear the song Persephone
Sings into the sky.
As she shares her gentle smile
With the clouds that drift on by.
There is peace again,
Under her tree,
And there is quiet in the air,
Where her pearled rivers overflow
Soft as a child's prayer.
"Come rest your heart
And soul a spell,
Under my Willow Tree.
It is here, where hearts
Of wonder soar
In sweet Persephone."
