Everlasting Life Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Everlasting Life

Life everlasting is no guarantee of bliss
As the Scriptures would subtly suggest
It can be eternal perdition, unrelieved anguish or angst
O Sweet Jesus, Love Incarnate why should we be resurrected,
We the poor devils, as we are, the easily tempted?
Why do Thee set us free to be condemned, damned?
What glory is there in getting a malady-ridden body resurrected?
We plead with Thee O' Lord, most compassionate
Better, reduce us to dust and consign us to oblivion
If our beseeching is irrational, pardon our folly, O'Love Incarnate
