Everlasting Song Poem by Blake Nox Gama

Everlasting Song

I want to hear a song
Louder than these voices.
A song louder than mockery,
Jeering, louder than criticism.

A song louder than the unholy chorus
That taunt me, provoke me, dare me
To blow out the candle.

I want a song louder than the
Clock ticking my life away,
I want to hear a song louder
Than my blood dripping,
Louder than my bones breaking.

I want to hear a song that'll help me
Soar, one that shall burn bridges, boom
Loudly through boulevards and plazas. One
Which shines brighter than the stars, one
Which persecutes and extinguishes
All those lingering shadows.

I want to hear a song that fixes all cracks,
Repairs all rifts, mends all scratches and gashes.
I want a song I can hear above the storm,
I want a song which comes with more force
And passion than a hurricane, more warmth
Than a raging wildfire.

I want a song I can hold one to
So when the ground in gone, when
The stars are spinning out of orb…
I want a song I can hear even in the void.
I want a song I can sing even in the void.
I want to hear a song I can sing and feel
The notes echoing down my heart.

Should I wish upon a star?
Should I pray and beg and despair,
Waiting for the melody to start?
Shouldn't be so hard but—

But I see eternity spread out before me
And the silence is dreadful, deafening, death
In the seconds before
The chords are played
And I can breath again.
