Every Day Was A Summers One Poem by Andrew Matthews

Every Day Was A Summers One

I wish everyday
that
everyday was a summers day.

There's nothing like it.
People mowing their lawns
releasing the smell of grass
into the gentle breeze
peoples sounds blaring
into the heat, and your hayfever
making you sneeze.

Sometimes I wish for everyday
to be an Autumn day.

The leaves being shed to fall
and rot in the dampness.
The stormy days
when your tucked up cosy
in your warm home.
putting on your raincoat
to go to work, still feeling dozy.

Occasionally I wish everyday
was a winters day.

Smoking an imaginary cigar
scraping your windows on you're
car and your fingers are numb.
Jumping 6ft into the air
when the water in the toilet
splashes on your bum.

Every other day, I wish everyday
was a Spring day.

New born lambs leaping on their mothers back
Days getting longer
people of Earth feeling stronger
people of Earth, half are sleeping
Safe at least for a little while
until the alarm clock starts bleeping.
