Every elementary school child
Who was paying attention
Knows what gravity is all about
So I tell you
Without equivocation
That evening is not a physical entity
Merely a vague denotation
Of a time of day
Which varies seasonally
In the Northern and Southern Hemispheres
But even if it were a physical entity
Let us say
A person as a patient
They could not be lying
Upside down on a table
Because one of the universal laws
Of the universe
(which operates everywhere except in the minds of great poets)
Called Gravity
Would not permit it
There are metaphors that work
And then there is stupidity
Incurable
But worshipped and lauded
By loyal devotees of poetry everywhere.
